TARGET-VITAL-GEMINI Cluster Activity – Toward the Virtual Human: Multi-Organ Digital Twins for Cardiovascular Medicine

On May 28th 2026, GEMINI is participating in the cluster activity “Toward the Virtual Human: Multi-Organ Digital Twins for Cardiovascular Medicine” hosted by TARGET and in collaboration with VITAL. The activities will take place in Thessaloniki at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) with the possibility to join online.

The three projects share a common vision: advancing virtual twin technologies to support personalised medicine and improve clinical decision-making in cardiovascular and stroke care. While TARGET focuses on atrial fibrillation and related stroke management, VITAL develops multi-scale models for personalised cardiovascular care, and GEMINI advances approaches for the management of ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke patients.

The event will explore key challenges and opportunities in the development of virtual human technologies for healthcare, including:

  • · AI-driven approaches for cardiovascular and stroke care
  • · Multi-scale modelling for personalised medicine
  • · Digital twins for rehabilitation prognosis and clinical decision support
  • · Hybrid modelling approaches and in silico technologies in healthcare

The programme will also include a roundtable discussion, offering panellists the opportunity to exchange perspectives on the future of virtual human technologies and their integration into clinical practice. Additionally, participants will also have the opportunity to interact with the speakers and panellists during the final Q&A session. To see the full programme, click here.

By strengthening collaboration across EU-funded projects, this cluster activity aims to accelerate the transition toward integrated virtual human twins capable of supporting more predictive, personalised, and data-driven healthcare solutions.
