The GEMINI consortium gathered in Rotterdam on May 18 and 19 2026 for our 6th consortium meeting, hosted at Erasmus MC.
The program included keynote presentations by Daniel Bos on intracranial arteriosclerosis and its link to ischemic stroke and Wouter Huberts on surrogates, verification, validation and uncertainty quantification. Their talks opened important discussions on clinical relevance, model credibility, and uncertainty-aware approaches in computational healthcare.
Throughout the meeting, partners shared progress across GEMINI pipelines and work packages and worked together on topics including data harmonization, processing practices, clinical trial preparation, software delivery, documentation, HPC execution, vessel wall mechanics, CFD, and model validation.
A recurring theme was the importance of alignment across the consortium: between clinical needs and technical development, between data and modelling workflows, and between individual pipelines and shared infrastructure.
We also discussed how to better disseminate the concept of digital twins to the public, helping to grow awareness, understanding and acceptance of digital twin technologies. More on this will follow, stay tuned !
